Pre-ACT webinars
/The Pre-ACT project (www.sintef.no/pre-act) will during the spring of 2020 arrange a series of webinars summarizing important findings from nearly three years of research on topics ranging from CO2 pre-injection modelling/experimental studies and novel monitoring concepts, to conformance verification strategies, decision making guidelines, and storage case studies in the North Sea. The webinars are open to all and include a Q&A, as an efficient means of communication in times of travel/event restrictions.

Capturing CO₂ from waste-to-energy discussed in UK Parliament
/Last month, in the UK Parliament a debate was held concerning waste incineration facilities and issues of the relationship between the WtE sector and CO₂ emissions and CCS were raised. Read more here

New ACT2 projects selected for funding
/Following a rigorous two stage evaluation process, twelve (12) projects submitted for the Second ACT call were selected by an independent international panel. The new ACT2 projects cover a wide range of the CCUS area. Read more here

The value of ACT Mid-term review
/The midterm review meeting for the ACT1 projects was held in the Netherlands on 11 and 12 June 2019. The meeting was a face to face evaluation moment for the large ACT granted projects (>3 M€ funding), Pre-ACT, Align-CCUS and Elegancy, after 18 months implementation. Read more here

News from the ACT2 Call for CCUS R&D Projects
/The ACT Consortium received 26 proposals that have been independently evaluated and ranked by external CCUS experts. Based on this evaluation, the ACT Consortium notified 12 projects, with a combined budget of €31 million, that they were selected to move forward with award negotiations, which is to take place this summer. CSLF Task Force Report on Improved Pore Space Utilisation
/The Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF) Technical Group’s Task Force was formed to investigate Improved Pore Space Utilisation. The mandate of the task force was to investigate the current status of techniques that have the potential to improve how well the capacity of reservoirs for CO2 storage are utilized. The Final Report from the task force on Improved Pore Space Utilisation has now been completed and can be found here
Video highlights of the Conference GHGT-14 held in Melbourne, Australia from October 22-25, 2018
/The 4-day conference included 71 technical sessions, 7 panel discussions, over 350 oral presentations, and over 400 posters, and presented many opportunities for the CCUS community to discuss, connect and collaborate.Delegates also had the opportunity to visit the CO2CRC’s Otway National Research Center in Australia, where researcher sare conducting CO2 injection tests and associated monitoring and analysis studies.

3D printed materials reduce the cost of CO2 capture systems
/The 3D-CAPS project develops new 3D-printed materials that will strongly reduce the size of equipment for removal and recovery of CO2 from industrial gases using two promising new adsorption-based technologies with an inherent small energy footprint. Read more here
